One killed, five injured and three missing in building collapse

A structural collapse during demolition works at the Didcot Power Station south of Oxford on Tuesday has left one person dead, five people injured and three missing. Local authorities currently believe that the incident may have been triggered whilst workers were preparing for the demolition of two boilers at the site. It was expected that works by the crew included targeted weakening of the structure in preparation for next month’s demolition.
The incident resulted in a large section of the turbine hall collapsing covering the surrounding area in dust. A further 50 people in the nearby area have been treated for dust inhalation.
Worker killed in trench collapse
British Columbia, Canada
A man in his 20s was killed on date at a residential construction site in Coquitlam, east of Vancouver after becoming engulfed in a trench collapse. The man was working in a trench digging sewage lines at the site when the trench collapsed and buried him. Although emergency crews were quick to respond, the man was unable to be recovered in time and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Worker sustains serious head injuries in fall
Nova Scotia, Canada
A 55 year old man is in hospital with traumatic head injuries after a fall at a business north of Dartmouth on Tuesday. The man was working on a roof during renovation works at the premises when he fell. Local authorities have stated that the man’s injuries are life threatening.
Worker killed in gas well incident
West Virginia, USA
Local authorities have confirmed that a 40 year old man has been killed after an incident at a gas well site near Fairmont on Tuesday. A medical examiner has stated that the cause of death was a traumatic head injury, which is believed to have been caused by an equipment malfunction during a pigging operation at the site. A piece of equipment struck the man in the head causing fatal injuries.
Worker killed in fall from cherry picker
Grantham, England
An investigation by local authorities is ongoing into the death of a 64 year old man at an industrial site in Grantham last Thursday. Emergency services were called to the site after reports of a worker falling from a cherry picker.
Worker crushed in forklift roll over
Oklahoma, USA
A worker has been killed at a building supplies company in Oklahoma City on Tuesday morning in an incident involving a forklift. Local reports claim that the man was operating a forklift at the site when it tipped on an incline. The man sustained fatal injuries after being thrown from the forklift as it tipped and then rolled on top of him. Co-workers used another forklift at the site to lift the tipped forklift off the injured man.
