    INCIDENTS

    1. Worker Killed in Haul Truck Collision at Peak Downs Mine

    5. Construction Worker Killed Following Tower Crane Collapse

    Twenty-eight workers were killed after a fire swept through a shoe manufacturing factory in Jinjiang, Fujian Province. More than 230 employees were reportedly working at the facility when the fire broke out in a production area before spreading rapidly through the building. Firefighters responded to the incident, however many workers were unable to escape before the structure became engulfed. Chinese authorities later confirmed the factory owner had been detained while the investigation commenced.

    Investigators are examining the origin of the fire together with the adequacy of fire protection systems, emergency evacuation arrangements and the storage of combustible materials used during the manufacturing process.
